After the Apology

I caught you once, your words to her, Like knives behind my back. You begged, you cried, you swore to me That you’d get us on track. I stayed. I gave another chance. Believed in healing slow. But even love can’t stitch a wound That still remembers blow. It’s been a year, but I still feel The weight of what you hid. I smile, but shadows pull me back To everything you did. I stalk her page like she holds truth, Though I know it’s not fair. But I can’t help but wonder if You wish that she was there. You say you’ve changed. I try to trust. But trust won’t just obey. A second chance can’t fix the first If pain still leads the way.
